§ 48-26. Garbage containerization requirements.

  • (a)

    All customers of the city solid waste collection system will use commercial compactors, dumpsters, or automated refuse collection carts provided by the city.

    (b)

    All household customers shall place garbage in the container provided by the city. Occasional overflow is allowed, provided such overflow is properly bagged and placed at curb or street-side so as not to interfere with automated pickup of the container.

    (c)

    All commercial customers of the city will specify their actual container requirements to the city and shall have an appropriate compactor, dumpster, or one of several sizes refuse collection containers provided. All garbage shall be placed in such containers, and the containers shall be placed in the exact location specified by the city to facilitate pick-up.

    (d)

    All commercial customers shall not exceed the capacity of containers provided for the collection of garbage. No overflow is allowed. Generation of waste beyond the capability of the container may be cause for the city to refuse to collect, as well as result in a violation of this chapter.
